•paul and lani, downtown del mar…!!!

October 26, 2009

a few weekends ago i had an impromptu shoot with paul and lani in downtown del mar, close to where paul lived for a few years. i’ve known paul and lani since high school and it was great to get to hang out with them to do this photoshoot. lani was uncomfortable and she is definitely her biggest critic, but the pictures that we took came out great. since they only needed two pictures so they could use at the entrance, i only processed the two they liked (midterms and research papers are creeping up on me and i don’t have too much time). although i’m not going to post those two pictures, i am going to post a picture that i took that i thought was super cool.

as we were walking around downtown del mar, misa spots this ancient looking, wooden telephone booth inside an office. i don’t remember the name of the office, but the company dealt with long distance phone numbers or something like that and they had this awesome phone booth in the office. we went in, asked the guy if we could shoot a couple shots and this one came out so awesome. enjoy…!!!

•rita and hai, uci engagement…!!!

September 27, 2009

yesterday i had such an awesome time running through the university of california, irvine (their alma mater and where they met 7years ago), more specifically, aldrich park, with rita and hai. at first we were kind of bummed, because we wanted to get into some of the libraries and do a couple shots inside, however, due to statewide budget cuts, library hours were rolled back. so by the time we arrived at UCI, the buildings were closed and all our hopes were dashed. that didn’t really faze, cus we just walked around and found the best parts of campus to take pictures at. these pictures have such a personal touch to them because hai is a big comic book buff and they wanted to incorporate some of that into the pictures, and i think we did a great job of doing that. in addition to spiderman and simpson’s comic books, they went out and bought these funny glasses with a mustache and crazy eyebrows. SOOO COOL…i absolutely love them! here are a few from the day. enjoy…!!!

•linda and tony, a stroll through prospect street…!!!

August 31, 2009

this weekend i had the chance to shoot a wonderful engagement session in the heart of la jolla, california. when you think of la jolla, one of the main streets that pops into mind is prospect. it’s a bustling crossroads and essentially splits downtown la jolla from la jolla cove. it’s a mile and a half stretch of restaurants and shops. mainly catering to the locals and not so much the tourist, however, there are a few gift shops scattered around.

sunday, i had the chance to walk up and down prospect street with linda and tony. dipping into peoples yards, going through alleys and getting kicked off of private property. i had fun and i think they did too. these two were a joy to work with. linda, tony and i went to the same high school and coincidentally we hung out in the same place at lunch, but we didn’t know each other. i only recently got to know linda through her co-ed league that i was a sub for. even though, when i subbed for the team, we didn’t win, we had tons of fun losing!

i remember one game, i was playing left field and linda was playing left center. the batter hit one towards linda and she was back pedaling to catch the ball while i was running towards it. she stopped back pedaling to catch the ball but it went right over her glove. luckily i was right behind her to catch it. she turns around and says “i was going to get that!” i was a little dumbfounded, but then we both started cracking up! we lost the game, but had a bellyaching time losing.

so, linda, tony, my assistant wife and another friend ran around downtown la jolla looking for the best picture spots. here are a few of my favorites from the day. enjoy…!!!
